Phase two of the Downtown North-South Greenway Connector Project will add separated bike lanes on both West Street and Harrington Street between North Street and Peace Street.
During construction there will be no parking in this area.

No parking signs with dates and times will be posted along both streets.
Construction dates are subject to change.
About the Project
The new bike lanes will provide a safe, reliable, and healthy means to commute in downtown Raleigh between Glenwood South and the Warehouse District.
Identified as part of the 2016 BikeRaleigh Plan, these separated bike lanes will;
- Expand the City’s bikeway network;
- Offer access to seven bikeshare stations located within or adjacent to each corridor; and,
- Provide a connection to two-planned future greenway segments.
Features include painted buffer zones with flexible bollards that give bicyclists more protection while signaling to motorists the potential presence of bike traffic. The bollards also help discourage vehicles from illegally parking in bike lanes.
To create on-street bike lanes that physically separate motor vehicles and bicyclists, the following curb space changes on West Street and Harrington Street can be anticipated:
- The removal of 14 time-regulated parking spaces, and 28 unregulated parking spaces along Harrington and West Streets.
- The conversion of 45 spaces along Harrington and West Streets to metered parking, and the creation of 17 new parking spaces along North and Tucker Streets.
- The shortening of a Commercial Loading Zone on Tucker Street, the relocation of Mixed-Use Loading/Unloading Zone on West Street, and the shortening of an evening Taxi Zone on Tucker Street.
