The City of Raleigh has new rules for short-term rental properties like Airbnb and Vrbo. Starting March 4, property owners must obtain a zoning permit to operate a short-term rental property. This is the result of a text change to Raleigh's Development Code (also known as the Unified Development Ordinance). This change was adopted by City Council on February 2. Property owners have 90 days to obtain proper permits and comply with the new regulations.
More information about the new short-term rental requirements, including the permit application, can be found on the short-term rental webpage.
