Update On Road Repair
The inbound lanes of Glenwood Avenue, between Edwards Mill Road and Blue Ridge Road, remain closed and are expected to reopen late Saturday or Sunday, November 21 or November 22. The extensive pavement damage caused by a watermain break early on Monday, November 16. Raleigh Water field crews quickly arrived onsite to isolate the break and the line was repaired by Monday afternoon. Repaving efforts started Monday morning, although the thick concrete road bedding and other nearby utilities have substantially complicated the progress of this work. So far approximately 80% of the concrete road bedding, totaling 70,000 square feet or 1.6 acres, has been removed. Once all the damaged concrete has been removed, the asphalt repaving process will begin immediately.
This completion timeline is subject to change based on weather conditions or other unexpected construction delays.
While this section of Glenwood Avenue remains closed, Crabtree Valley Mall and the surrounding businesses remain open and can be accessed via Edwards Mill Road or Blue Ridge Road.
