Patrick Buffkin

District A Council Member

Patrick Buffkin was elected to serve District A on the Raleigh City Council in 2019.

Council Member Buffkin is the vice-chair of the Council's Transportation and Transit Committee and a member of the Council's Safe, Healthy, and Vibrant Community Committee. 

Council Member Buffkin moved to Raleigh to study at N.C. State University, where he earned a degree in business management. He began his career working in and around the state government and graduated from N.C. Central University School of Law in the evening program. Council Member Buffkin now practices law as a staff attorney at the North Carolina Utilities Commission and is certified as a specialist in utilities law by the North Carolina State Bar.

Outside of work, Council Member Buffkin is active in the Raleigh community and enjoys spending time with family and friends. He enjoys riding his bike on the greenways, visiting City parks, and exercising at the Y. He has served on the City of Raleigh’s Parks, Recreation, and Greenways Advisory Board and is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Raleigh. Patrick lives with his partner (and fiancé) Rachael and their cat Jones and dogs Dixon and Lily.
