Planning and Development: Permits and Mailed Notification
  • Permitting Services have been digital since Wednesday, March 25
  • Litchford Road Residential Office (8320 Litchford Road): Services are suspended, and the office is temporarily closed to the public
  • The Development Services Customer Service Center at One Exchange Plaza will also resumed in-person services by appointment on July 20. 
Planning and Development: Inspections
  • Live remote inspections are now available for select residential, non-residential, and rough-in inspections
Communications
  • Maintains communications with Wake County and other local partners to provide the latest information to residents and staff regarding COVID-19

  • Commits to supporting Raleigh's vibrant business community as it responds to the impacts of COVID-19

  • All special events are canceled through December 31
Finance and Revenue Services
  • Revenue Services payment windows located on the 1st floor of the Raleigh Municipal Building re-opened to the public on July 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City encourages the continuation of paying bills online via the web-site, telephone and mail-in options
  • The City will suspend interest and late fee charges during the closure
  • The Procurement Services division will not hold scheduled public bid openings and scheduled public bid openings will be rescheduled
  • Interest and late fees are suspended during the closure

Police, Fire, and 911 Emergency
  • Service continues as usual
  • Fire will assist with inspections and permits as needed despite previous messaging that those Office of the Fire Marshal activities would be suspended
  • The Raleigh Fire Department has a direct-to-voicemail feature on our 919-996-6115 phone line. Please allow up to 3 business days for us to respond your message.  If your call is an actual emergency, please call 9-1-1.

Solid Waste Services

  • City of Raleigh Solid Waste Services has staggered work schedules for its employees.
    • Garbage and recycling collection now starts at 6 a.m.
    • Place your carts at the curb the night before your normal pickup day
  • The City of Raleigh temporarily suspended a variety of collections March 30. However, we will resume their collection on June 15. This includes:
  • Curbside Yard Waste collection will be on the same day as recycling pickup starting Oct. 8; read more
  • The Solid Waste Services Administrative Building is closed to the public. 
  • The Yard Waste Center is open  to the public.
  • Our textile program is suspended until further notice
Transportation
  • GoRaleigh has implemented additional cleaning and social distancing measures
  • Temporary Curbside Pickup Zones have been marked off throughout Raleigh to support quick stops at local businesses
  • Rear-door boarding only and no collection of fares since March 23
  • The R-Line route is running on a modified schedule until 6 p.m. daily
Water
  • Raleigh Water will continue to provide clean, safe drinking water and sanitary sewer services through this event
  • On-call crews stand ready to respond to water main breaks and sanitary sewer overflows
  • The utility's call center staff will continue to respond to customer calls, though utility payments will no longer be taken in person
  • While the City will not disconnect water service due to nonpayment during this event, customers are encouraged to continue to make payments by mail, online, or by phone at 919-996-3245
